It was a quiet evening in the small town of Shantipur. Fourteen-year-old Aarav was cycling home from his tuition class. The streets were familiar, and the soft orange lights from the shops made the road feel safe. Aarav never imagined that something dangerous could happen in such a peaceful place.
As he turned into a narrow lane near the old library, a white van slowed down beside him. Two men inside called out and asked for directions. Aarav stopped for a moment, thinking they were lost visitors. Suddenly one of them stepped out and grabbed his bicycle handle.
Aarav instantly sensed something was wrong. He heard one man whisper to the other that they should abduct the boy quickly before anyone noticed. Fear rushed through Aarav’s mind. The idea that someone wanted to abduct him felt unreal.
Instead of panicking, Aarav remembered the safety lessons his school had taught. He shouted loudly for help and pushed the bicycle toward the men to create distance. His loud voice attracted the attention of a shopkeeper nearby. The men realized people were watching and quickly jumped back into the van.
The van sped away before they could abduct him. Aarav’s hands were shaking, but he was safe. The shopkeeper immediately called the police and reported the attempted abduct plan. Within an hour, the police began searching the nearby roads.
That night Aarav told his parents everything. They were relieved he had reacted bravely and remembered what to do in a dangerous situation. The police later confirmed that the same criminals had tried to abduct another child in a nearby town.
Aarav’s quick thinking had prevented the criminals from carrying out their plan to abduct him. His school later invited a police officer to speak to students about safety. Aarav realized that awareness and courage could sometimes stop a crime before it even happened.
