During the final month of the school year, the student council at Green Valley High was preparing an important proposal. They wanted to improve the school’s recycling program and encourage students to reduce waste. The council members worked together to write a detailed plan explaining how new recycling bins could be placed around the campus.
Arjun, the council secretary, was responsible for writing the first draft. He spent hours organizing ideas and preparing the document. When the draft was finally ready, the team gathered in the library to review it.
At first, everyone was impressed with Arjun’s effort. However, as they read the document carefully, they noticed a few problems. Some instructions were unclear, and a few sections lacked enough details. One member suggested they should amend the proposal before presenting it to the principal.
Arjun felt slightly embarrassed, but he understood the importance of improving the document. The team began discussing each section one by one. They decided to amend the introduction to make the goal clearer. They also planned to amend the section describing how students would separate different types of waste.
During the discussion, a new idea emerged. One student suggested organizing a "Recycling Awareness Week" to educate students. Everyone liked the idea and agreed to amend the proposal again to include this event.
Over the next two days, Arjun carefully worked on the document. He used the team’s feedback to amend several parts of the proposal. Each revision made the plan stronger and easier to understand.
Finally, the council presented the amended proposal to the principal. She appreciated their thoughtful effort and approved the project immediately.
Within a few weeks, new recycling bins appeared around the campus, and students began participating actively in the program.
Looking back, Arjun realized that being willing to amend his work had made the project much better. Instead of feeling discouraged by criticism, he had learned that improvement often begins with the courage to amend mistakes.
